Week of Accompanied Prayer at St. Mary’s - 19th to 25th March 2023

Just before Christmas the results of the census showed that fewer than half the population claim to be Christian. But interestingly, although not as many people may attend church, there is still a deep interest in spiritual things. Many people, for example, turn to prayer at challenging times in their lives. And many are filled with thankfulness at the sight of beauty in creation, or when things work out for them. I wonder how many people would respond if they felt there is a God who cares deeply about them and is reaching out to them?

About 3 or 4 times a year, a team of people in the Diocese organise Weeks of Accompanied Prayer, which generally take place in churches. This gives those who take part an opportunity to meet privately for half an hour each day with a trained Prayer Guide. This relationship is one of being affirmed and encouraged to listen, and hear the gentle voice of God speaking to us in a variety of ways.

These weeks are for any who feel they would like to draw closer to God, however experienced, or inexperienced they may feel with prayer.

The Week of Accompanied prayer is taking place at St. Mary's on 19th-25th March and is open to all. To find out more information, including details about how to sign up, click here
