Friends of St Mary's & Christ Church

St Mary's and Christ Church have a long and proud history. The first recorded mention of St Mary's was in 1119, and Christ Church was built in 1841, and throughout their lives they have stood, both physically and spiritually, at the heart of their villages.

Both buildings have changed significantly over the years, as successive generations have adapted them to meet their needs. Both churches are filled with fascinating history and are kept open every day so that visitors can come and go, enjoying the beauty and stillness of these holy places.
Neither church gets any help from the government or the central church, and have to raise the very considerable sums of money required to look after these ancient buildings. The Friends of St Mary's and The Friends of Christ Church exist to support and maintain the upkeep of the buildings, so that they continue to stand at the heart of their communities  for many generations to come.

Both groups run fund raising events and welcome new members. All the money they raise goes towards the upkeep of these ancient buildings. The Friends of St Mary have a noticeboard in the church with details of all their current and future activities. You can find it to the left of the main entrance.
