Jesus said "I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” We want to love one another in the way Jesus taught his disciples to love.

That means providing practical and pastoral care to people who need a hand - whether that’s a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on or something more practical. It also means praying with anyone who needs God’s involvement in their life - whether that is for healing, comfort, help with a decision or something else.

The Connect Team are the frontline of this pastoral and prayer support. Their aim is to help the whole church community to love like Jesus - sometimes by offering the pastoral care or prayer themselves; always by promoting and encouraging a culture of this kind of mutual care in the whole community.

The Connect Team offer a range of practical supports, including:

  • Visiting for our church family to provide companionship, support, a friendly chat or prayer

  • Meals from our church freezer for help after the birth of a baby, an operation, during illness etc

  • The Community Cupboard providing food and basic toiletries for local people experiencing financial difficulties

  • Connect clothing, providing high quality clothing at very reasonable prices sold at pop up events throughout the year

  • network to link people who are new to the village or to the church into GKChurch support

We also believe wholeheartedly in the power of Prayer and are happy to pray with anyone, whether it's for healing or for a difficult practical situation.

If you would like to contribute to the Community Cupboard, which we use to provide food and basic toiletries for anyone experiencing financial difficulties, there is a box under the table in the entrance of St Mary’s and Christ Church for donations.

If you would like to be involved with Connect in any way, or if you know of someone we might be able to assist, for practical help, please contact Ali Williams on 07944776008 or email ali.williams@gkchurch.org
