Harvest Festival

We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, surrounded by forests, fields and hills which at this time of year are dripping with fruit, nuts and produce.

Harvest Festival is our chance to thank God for the beauty of the world that he has made, to pray for those who do not have enough to eat, and to commit ourselves to making the world a fairer place.

The congregation of St. Mary's will celebrate Harvest Festival this Sunday 17 September as part of the Flower Festival celebrations with a Songs of Praise type service at 10:00. There will be no Sunday Clubs so children are invited to join in with the service.

We will be collecting food for our own Community Cupboard and also for the local food bank in Tunbridge Wells but would ask that donations are not left in the church until 19 September as the church will be full of people and flowers over the weekend of 15-17 September. Dry food stuffs - especially tins and packets of food - will be given to the Nourish Food Bank in Tunbridge Wells, and there is a list of the most helpful foods on the right hand side of this page. We will also be leaving some of the donated food in St Mary's, where anyone who is struggling with bills and food costs can come and take what they need - no questions asked.
